Different: .04 Office swivel chair from Vitra
In its appearance, the .04 office swivel chair differs clearly from the well-known and proven standard chairs. And yet its ergonomic properties make it a seat for comfortable, longer sitting. Its unobtrusive design blends easily into any office or studio.
The flexible integral foam shell is pleasantly flexible in the seat and back area. The micromechanics based on a rubber ball allow easy movements in all directions.
Maarten Van Severen – Designer
Maarten Van Severen studied architecture at the art school in Ghent. After designing his first piece of furniture in 1986, the following year he founded a furniture design workshop to design limited and semi-industrial products. He attached great importance to the unity of design and production. So it is not surprising that his focus was on the development of elementary furniture types such as chairs, tables, shelves and cupboards.
When he began working with Vitra in 1996, Van Severen opened up new materials and an unprecedented breadth of impact.
Material and size
The backrest is flexible thanks to integrated leaf springs. The seat shell is made of integral polyurethane foam with an upholstery effect. The chair is height adjustable. The 5-star base is made of powder-coated die-cast aluminium.
