Anniversary edition: AJ Mini table people from Louis Poulsen
To mark its 150th birthday, Louis Poulsen is presenting its anniversary collection. This includes iconic products that have been turned into exceptional collector's items, such as the AJ Mini Table Lamp. This lamp emits a wonderful downward light. The brass stem will patinate over time, giving the lamp its own unique character.
About the designer
Arne Jacobsen was born and raised in Copenhagen. He studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. The AJ lamp was originally designed in 1957 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen and is one of Arne Jacobsen's most important design icons.
Originally, the product family comprised a floor lamp, a wall lamp, a table lamp and a smaller table lamp as well as a table lamp that was intended to be attached to a table. The AJ Mini table lamp has an iconic, graphic expression that fits in beautifully with Jacobsen's design style and contrasts with the curves of some of the furniture in the SAS Royal Hotel.
Material and shape
The lamp is made of twisted steel, the outside is wet-painted white, while the inside is powder-coated in a light pink colour. The base is made of injection-moulded zinc. Spindle and nut are made of brass.
