The iconic luminaire was designed by star designer Louis Poulsen back in 1957. He was entrusted with the furnishing of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, which included the complete interior design - from furniture to lighting. In the course of this, the AJ design lamp was created. Thanks to the well thought-out shape of the lampshade, the AJ provides absolutely glare-free light. This can be perfectly aligned, because the asymmetrical lampshade can be swivelled as desired.
Louis Poulsen - lighting design from Denmark
The Danish luminaire manufacturer was founded in 1874 and has since then been producing products that are dedicated to the duality of design and light. The luminaires are designed for various purposes and are therefore particularly functional. Louis Poulsen produces both indoor and outdoor luminaires in close cooperation with well-known designers such as Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Øivind Slaatto, Alfred Homann, Oki Sato and GamFratesi. The manufacturer has thus established itself as one of the most important global suppliers of lighting elements.
