Visual spectacle: Carlos sideboard by Casamania Horm
As is so often the case, art served as the source of inspiration for this elegant piece of designer furniture. Strongly influenced by the work of the Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez, designer Renato Zamberlan incorporated so-called Op-Art, optical art, into his design.
The result is an unusual sideboard that fascinates again and again and can be experienced in a new way. By means of inserted slats, it changes its colour depending on the angle of view and looks like a curtain that plays with the incident light. This guarantees that the furniture will be an eye-catcher in your living room or office.
Material and format
Carlos is based on a carcass made of MDF boards - available in a choice of beech mocha or matt white lacquer - and has hollow-core MDF doors with metal reinforcement. The fronts of the doors are made of vertically milled oak veneer and fitted with inserts of white laminate. The interior shelves are made of transparent tempered glass.
