This chair from the pen of Hans J. Wegner is undoubtedly one of the greatest icons in the field of furniture design. Two aspects make the Wishbone Chair absolutely unmistakable. Carl Hansen & Søn - Danish design since 1908
What began in 1908 as a small furniture workshop on the Danish island of Funen has developed into a successful and globally recognised design company. Since the carpenter Carl Hansen founded the company, two aspects have taken centre stage: an uncompromising commitment to the finest craftsmanship and collaboration with exceptional designers.
The development of Carl Hansen & Søn was significantly influenced by the well-known Danish designer Hans J. Wegner - the "Master of Chairs". The creative relationship with him began in 1949 when Carl Hansen's son allowed the then unknown designer to design an extensive furniture series. This collaboration resulted in some of the greatest chair classics of all time, such as the world-famous CH24 Wishbone Chair.
Material and format
The frame of this special edition is made from African mahogany wood. The seat is made from 120 metres of hard-wearing paper yarn, which is woven into the frame by hand. The design classic is 55 cm wide, 51 cm deep and 76 cm high. The seat height is 45 cm.
