Description
Beautifully shaped: Chaise Tout Bois chair by Vitra
The only chair made entirely of wood by the French constructor and designer Jean Prouvé - the Chaise Tout Bois chair by Vitra. It corresponds formally to the well-known Standard Chair, but due to a lack of metal resources during the Second World War, the base was replaced by a wooden frame.
in 1947, Prouvé received an award for Chaise Tout Bois in the "Meubles de France" competition . The competition was intended to reward attractive, mass-produced furniture of good quality that met the needs of post-war society, especially those of young married couples. The version shown here is based on designs from 1941 that do not use screws at all.
Jean Prouvé - French Design
Throughout his life, Jean Prouvé described himself as a constructor, for he was both designer and producer of his designs. From letter openers, lamps and furniture to prefabricated houses - the work of the French designer is particularly extensive and includes pretty much everything that can be constructed and industrially manufactured.
Material and format
The chair is available in two wood versions - natural oak and dark oak. It is 46 cm wide, 49 cm deep and 80.5 cm high.
Wood origin:- Solid oak (Quercus robur) from Croatia
- Veneer wood from the USA
