An unconventional shape meets a dynamic seating experience - the Citizen armchair by Vitra and designer Konstantin Grcic is an absolute novelty: the seat is suspended on three cables and swings with every movement!
Designer Konstantin Grcic
The well-known designer Konstantin Grcic learned the profession of cabinetmaker at the John Makepeace School in Dorset England before studying at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1991, he founded his own design studio in Munich, which is now located in Berlin. Whether projects in the field of industrial and furniture design, exhibition pieces or collaboration with architecture - Konstantin Grcic's range of tasks is extremely versatile. The careful examination of history, art, design and architecture as well as his passion for technology and material characterise the designer's designs.
Material and format
The armchair consists of a powder-coated frame and a fabric or leather cover. The back is made of a support shell of PU hard foam and is foamed around with PU moulded foam. The seat height is 45.5 cm (then 32 cm when sat in (determined according to EN 1335-1)). It is 77 cm wide, 88.5 cm deep and 80 cm high.
Cover material:
- Plano: 100% polyester
- Laser: 100% Trevira CS
- Cosy 2: 80% virgin wool, 20% polyamide
- Credo: 95% virgin wool, 5% polyamide
- Leather: Robust cowhide with pronounced, evenly distributed grain, thickness: 1.1-1.3 mm
- Leather Premium: Semi-aniline cowhide with particularly soft feel, thickness: 1.1-1.3 mm
- Track: 10% polyamide, 90% virgin wool
