Feel-good classic: Drop chair by Fritz Hansen
Already designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958, the Drop chair is one of the well-known classics among seating furniture. Like the designs Swan and Egg, Drop was designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. With a tried and tested design and new production technology, the chair was reissued by Fritz Hansen in 2014.
As if you were sinking into an embrace, the drop-like, upholstered seat shell with leather or fabric cover provides a very special feeling of comfort and seating. With the flair of the 50s, the petite drop exudes freshness and personality and looks particularly good in dining areas or meeting rooms.
Designer Arne Jacobsen
Already in 1934, Arne Jacobsen worked together with Fritz Hansen. But it was not until 1952 that he made his breakthrough with "the Ant", which was followed by the well-known and popular Series 7 in 1955. Arne Jacobsen was extremely productive both as a designer and as an architect. He designed the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen at the end of the 1950s and developed, among other things, the Egg chair and the Swan sofa for this project.
Material and format
The designer chair is 45.5 cm wide, 54.5 cm deep and 88.5 cm high. The seat height is 46 cm.
The steel base is available in a chrome or black or white powder-coated finish. The glides are made of black plastic.

- Tonus: 90% virgin wool, 10% Helanca
Leather covers
- Aura leather: thickness 1.4-1.6 mm. Chrome-tanned, finished and hard-wearing surface with high lightfastness and strong grain (fulling).
- Embrace leather: thickness 1.2-1.4 mm. Chrome-tanned, grained, exceptional soft aniline with special waxing for a light oily surface. Visible natural features (e.g. neck wrinkles).
- Essential leather: thickness 1-1.2 mm. Chrome-tanned, slightly shiny, finished and grained surface with high durability and high light fastness.
- Grace Leather: Thickness 1.2-1.4 mm. Vegetable and chrome tanned aniline leather, full grain, light structure and light impregnation. Becomes lighter in colour with use and acquires a patina. Visible natural characteristics
- Natural leather: thickness 1.2-1.4 mm. Vegetable-tanned, completely chrome-free natural leather without colour or protective varnish. Darkens with use and acquires a patina. Visible natural characteristics
- Rustic leather: Thickness 1.2-1.4 mm. Vegetable-tanned, completely chrome-free aniline leather without protective varnish with a light impregnation and visible natural features. Becomes lighter with use and acquires patina
