Winner: Eclisse table lamp by Artemide
Already in 1967, the Eclisse table lamp by Artmeide won the Compasso d'Oro Award and has thus become an ambassador of Italian design worldwide. The design lamp is a perfect balance between form and function, design and utility. It is extremely functional because its light intensity can be adjusted by the rotating inner shade. The fixed outer shell stands as a visual contrast to the movable inner shell and also emphasises the sixties design.
Designer Vico Magistretti
Vico Magistretti was born in Milan in 1920. He has been an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art in London since 1983. He participated in various exhibitions with his designs and gave lectures in Europe, America and Japan. Some of his works are part of the permanent collections of MoMA in New York. His architectural works include the church of Santa Maria Nascenten and the Bassetti House in Azzate.
