Elegance in everyday life: Egg table walnut by Fritz Hansen
in1952 , Arne Jacobsen designed the famous Ant chair for the canteen of the newly expanded Novo Nordisk headquarters. In the same period, he also designed a small egg-shaped table to complement the chair and enhance everyday life . The birth of the Egg table.
With the relaunch of Egg in 2022, Fritz Hansen not only marks the 70th anniversary of its creation, but also theDanish company's 150th anniversary.
Sophisticated shape
Seen from above, the Egg Table's contours clearly resemble a large egg. In terms of functionality , this is a really well thought-out concept by designer Arne Jabobsen. Thanks to its special shape , the Egg Table takes up almost a third less space than its rectangular counterpart.
The elongated shape also makes it ideal for positioning according to the shape of the room and also perfect for placing freely in any living environment . In addition, the organic table exudes elegant lightness and enhances almost any modern ambience with its characteristic shape!
Material and format
The Egg Table was originally manufactured with a veneered table top made of teak or rosewood. In the spirit of sustainability , FSC-certified walnut veneer has been chosen for this anniversary version. This comes very close to the original, but can be sourced in a more resource-friendly way . For the three table legs, chrome-plated steel was retained as the material in keeping with the original design .
