The modern interpretation of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese aesthetics - the design duo Hansen and Hyldahl took their inspiration from Danish upholstered chairs of the 1950s and designed an elegant, light dining room chair. The back resembles the ear of an elephant and gives the name to this simple yet extraordinary chair.
Its shape offers maximum comfort. The two shells surround the body in a slight curve and thus nestle against the body. The Elephant chair is handcrafted from solid oak and is available with various leather covers.
Design team Hansen + Hydahl
Designer Tommy Hyldahl is the founder of NORR11. He is responsible for the creative DNA of the manufacturer and this is how his interest in the materials and production processes is reflected in every single NORR11 product. Since 2015 he has been working together with Kristian Sofus Hansen, who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The two designers share a passion for Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian tradition, which they combine in their designs to create timeless furniture.
NORR11 - Scandinavian design
The Danish furniture manufacturer NORR11 was founded in 2011. The company's focus is to redefine and rethink the understanding of Scandinavian design and thus create timeless pieces of furniture that combine present and past. This goal is achieved through collaboration with innovative young designers. This results in products of outstanding craftsmanship and quality.
Material and format
The Elephant armchair has an oak wood frame and an upholstered seat shell with leather upholstery, each of which is available in different versions. It is 47 cm wide, 53 cm deep and 80.5 cm high. The seat height is 45.5 cm.
