What can quickly be recognized as a 1950s design still seems absolutely contemporary and almost cult. The design language of the French designer, architect and constructor Jean Prouvé combines function and design excellently.
The pleasantly voluminous upholstery of the seat and backrest and the clear structure of tubular steel and round sheet metal, together with the wooden armrests, create a homely atmosphere. The Vitra Direction Pivotant armchair also convinces in its functions, as its height can be adjusted and the backrest mechanism can be adapted to the user's weight.
Jean Prouvé - French design
Throughout his life, Jean Prouvé described himself as a constructor because he was both designer and producer of his designs. From letter openers to lamps and furniture to prefabricated houses - the work of the French designer is particularly extensive and includes just about everything that can be constructed and industrially produced.
Material and size
The backrest and seat of the swivel chair are made of a polyurethane filling and a fabric or leather cover. The armrests are made of solid oiled wood in natural oak, smoked oak or American walnut. The wood comes from Western Europe and/or Poland in the case of oak and from the USA in the case of walnut. The 5-star base frame consists of powder-coated, formed sheet steel and round tube. The swivel chair has double castors in basic dark.
In addition, an adjustable back mechanism is integrated into the chair, which can be locked in the foremost position. The seat height can be infinitely adjusted by means of a gas spring.
