Classic for indoors and outdoors: Bertoia Bench Indoor / Outdoor Knoll International
This simple design was the first piece of furniture Harry Bertoia designed for Knoll. Although the bench does not feature the characteristic wire mesh of his more famous 1952 collection, the welded wire base shows an early exploration of the material.
Characteristic of the early environment at Knoll was that Hans and Florence never demanded that Bertoia design furniture, but instead encouraged him to explore what he liked. They simply asked him to show them something interesting when he found it. This is how the famous bench that we show you here came into being.
Material and format
The bench consists of a stainless steel base and an acrylic seat. The bench is 183 cm wide, 48 cm deep and 39 cm high.
