Science fictional: The Tubular LED pendant lamp by Ingo Maurer

Its futuristic shape makes the Tubular LED pendant lamp by Ingo Maurer an exciting design object that immediately captivates the viewer. The glass tube allows a view of the LED bulbs inside and thus allows the electronic component itself to become part of the design.

The progressive design comes from the renowned luminaire designer Sebastian Hepting, himself a long-standing member of the Ingo Maurer team. As the multifunctional glass luminaire can be rotated through 360°, it can unfold its potential in very different rooms - whether as a downlight, uplight or wallwasher. The Tubular LED pendant luminaire by Ingo Maurer was presented for the first time in 2020 at the IMM in Cologne.

Ingo Maurer - creative lighting design made in Munich

Until his death at the end of 2019, Ingo Maurer was probably one of the most popular lighting designers in the world. The typesetter from Lake Constance first studied commercial art in Munich and emigrated to the USA in 1960 to work as a graphic designer. Back in Munich in 1966, he founded Design M, a company specialising in industrial design. His famous bulb lamp dates from this time and is already exhibited in the Design Collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York at the end of the 1960s. With the rise of the design manufactory and a growing team, the company was renamed Ingo Maurer GmbH. The extraordinary designs from the house of Ingo Maurer bear witness to a fascination for light, design and art without disregarding functionality and the special effect on people. The products are still manufactured by hand at the company's site in Munich.
