Seat and back cushions are surrounded by high-quality leather and lie loosely on the armchair so that they mould themselves to the user and yet always return to their original shape. The user sinks slowly into the armchair when sitting down and is perfectly supported by the integrated mechanism. The seat and backrest move independently of each other in a synchronised relationship. A rotary knob allows the mechanism to be adjusted and locked in any position. The elegant four-star base can be swivelled through 360 degrees.

Together with the matching ottoman as a footrest, the result is a perfect seat!

Antonio Citterio - Designer

Antonio Citterio opened his own design studio at the age of 22 and worked together with Terry Dawn on buildings in Europe and Japan from 1987 to 1996. Together with Patricia Viel, he founded an interdisciplinary studio for architecture, interior design and graphic design in 2000. In addition to Vitra, he works with many other well-known companies in the design furniture industry, e.g. B&B Italian Flos, Kartell and Technogym.

Material and format

The body of the chair is made of moulded polyurethane foam with a plastic frame and an integrated, lockable synchronous mechanism. The base consists of a swivel four-star base in die-cast aluminium, polished or powder-coated. The cushions are chamber cushions with a foam filling, fibre balls (seat cushions) or a goose feather/down mixture (back/neck cushions). Both the backrest cover and the edging of the base of the seat and ottoman and the lever for power adjustment are covered in Forte split leather.
