Soft look: the CH24 chair from Carl Hansen & Søn in the Soft colours

The version of the popular CH24 from Carl Hansen & Søn with a matt finish - like the original, the Soft Edition also impresses with its clear and characteristic expression. The matt surface further emphasises the timeless and elegant look of the classic . The matt finish also makes it much easier to care for the chair.

When developing the CH24, designer Hans J. Wegner designed the backrest and armrest in one piece. The characteristic Y-shaped backrest ensures stability and gives the Wishbone Chair its name. More than 100 work steps are required to produce this classic chair, most of which are carried out by hand. It takes an experienced craftsman around an hour to make the hand-woven seat alone, using approx. 120 metres of paper cord to create a seat with impressive durability and stability.

Designer Hans J. Wegner

As one of the most creative, innovative and also most productive Danish designers, Wegner is often referred to as the master of the chair. During his lifetime, he designed more than 500 chairs, many of which are masterpieces. The legendary Wishbone Chair is probably one of his best-known designs and has been in continuous production since 1950. Wegner's focus as a designer was to bring the soul of the furniture to the outside world through its simplicity and functionality.

Material and format

Carl Hansen only uses wood from sustainable forestry for its durable designer furniture , which is processed as environmentally friendly as possible. The frame, armrests and legs are therefore made of solid FSC®-certified beech wood to ensure stability. The seats are covered with hand-woven paper cords using a special process.

The Wishbone Chair in the Soft Edition is available in ten matt colours. The colours used are water-based and non-toxic .

The chair is 55 cm wide, 51 cm deep and 76 cm high. The seat height is 45 cm.
