At first glance, the experimental designer table lamp Atman by Catellani & Smith looks more like a sculptural living accessory than a luminaire. For designer Enzo Catellani, the design of the Atman table lamp began with a journey to India and contact with a deep culture where everything is connected - chaos and tranquillity, spirituality and misery. There the designer discovers the sacred oval stones and decides to invent a lamp that replicates this form but is made of crystal. The name of the design lamp also bears witness to its important history of origins, as Atman means soul in Sanskrit.
Catellani & Smith - Italian lamp creations
In 1989, Enzo Catellani founded the company Catellani & Smith in Italy. The appealing luminaire creations are made by hand and inspire with their inimitable lighting. The designer combines high-quality craftsmanship with current technical trends and thus brings forward-looking ideas to life. Thus, he became involved with LED technology at a particularly early stage.
