Functional: About A Chair AAC 53 by Hay

Probably the most functional chair in Hay's About A Chair series, the AAC 53 features a five-legged base with a semi-automatic gas spring in addition to a wide range of optical variations. The seat height can be varied from 42 to 56 cm.

A wide range of colours (and fabrics) offer additional options to adapt the chair to any environment you need.

About A Chair Collection

Conscious and simple - the chairs from Hay's About A Chair Collection follow simple and straight lines, so that they can be easily combined with other furnishings. They perfectly complement a wide variety of styles and can therefore also be used perfectly in contract furnishing. Designer Hee Welling conceived the series with the aim of making the chairs suitable for use in restaurants, canteens, offices or at home dining tables. Their simple exterior ensures special multifunctionality and combinability.

The collection includes AACs in various variations - wooden and metal frames and unupholstered and upholstered seat shells. Each individual variant bears witness to a restrained elegance that discreetly enhances any room.

Designer Hee Welling

Danish designer Hee Welling graduated from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and holds a master's degree in furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 2003 he founded his own studio in Copenhagen and has since designed furniture, interiors, lighting and industrial design. Welling has received several awards, including the BoBedre Design Award (Denmark) and the Good Design Award (USA). His designs have been used in international institutions such as the Oslo Opera House, the Australian Parliament and the headquarters of Amazon.

As the son of a carpenter, he is extremely fascinated by production techniques and materials. So it is not surprising that his credo is to develop technically mature products that are nevertheless accessible to a broad mass of people.

Material and size

The chair consists of an aluminium frame and a polypropylene seat shell. It is 69 cm wide, 69 cm deep and 87.5 cm high. The chair is equipped with a semi-automatic gas lift so that the seat height can be varied from 42 to 56 cm. It is also equipped with castors.
