Waste-to-Value: Earth Bar Stool with Backrest by Mater
Creating a beautiful design from industrial waste? Danish architect Eva Harlou has clearly succeeded in this in collaboration with Mater!
Timeless and sustainable
In the timelessly elegant Earth bar stool, the rounded seat and backrest in a natural look are enthroned on a filigree metal frame. Hard to believe, but these are made entirely from insulin sticks from Novo Nordisk and BKI coffee husk waste. Innovative waste-to-value technology makes it possible.
This was developed in collaboration with the Danish Technological Institute and with the support of the University of Copenhagen. In the process, the waste is mixed into a special mixture that is ideal for press moulding. In this way, the used materials can be recycled in a more efficient way.
Natural colours
The Mater bar stool with backrest is 37 cm wide, 27 cm deep and can be ordered in heights of 99 cm and 104 cm. The seat height is 69 and 74 cm respectively. For the colour, you can choose between the light and dark version.
