Groundbreaking: Bauhaus Nesting Tables Set of 4 tables by Klein & More
Much of what we take for granted today was an absolute novelty at the time of the Bauhaus University. The colourful and timelessly appealing Nesting Tables, designed by Josef Albers in 1926, are also among them. They were originally designed for the Moellenhof House in Berlin.
Their flexibility and formal simplicity make the typesetting tables particularly eye-catching, with their colourful table tops. The tables are manufactured in Germany in a family business in the Erzgebirge. The single-pane glass of the tops is imported from Italy especially for the production of the tables.
Designer Josef Albers
Born in Bottrop in 1888, Josef Albers studied in Berlin, Essen and Munich before finally beginning his training at the Bauhaus in Weimar in 1920. In 1923 he was in charge of the workshop for glass painting. As a teacher and as an artist, Albers was a pioneer for a whole generation of designers. He was awarded an honorary doctorate a total of fourteen times and in 1968 even the Grand Cross of Merit of the Order "Pour le Mérite".
Materia and size
The tables are made of solid oak and beech wood and a glass top. The glass is painted on the underside. They have four different sizes.
