A flexible swivel chair with a high design factor - the Hal RE Studio swivel chair from Vitra is suitable for use in both public and private spaces. As a reinterpretation of the classic shell chair, Jasper Morrison has equipped the popular Hal design with castors, making it suitable for office use.
Wherever a comfortable and practical seat is needed at short notice, Hal RE Studio from Vitra is there to help. However, the lack of armrests in no way diminishes the comfort, as Hal Studio is made of flexible plastic.
Jasper Morrison - Designer
The designer Jasper Morrison lives and works in London and Tokyo. He describes his work as "super normal " - because instead of unusual shapes, colours and materials, he focuses on reinterpreting the tried and tested and further developing familiar solutions.
Morrison has taken his HAL collection to a contemporary level with the new RE versions . The seat shells are now made from recycled plastic from household waste.
Environmentally conscious design for the future: the new RE collection
From January 2024, Vitra will be focussing on sustainability by producing all seat shells for the Eames Plastic Chairs from recycled post-consumer plastic . The seat shells will have minimal glass fibre reinforcement for stability and quality, with the glass fibre content of an Eames Plastic Chair RE seat shell being 10%. The use of recycled packaging waste gives the seat shells minimal colour pigmentation.
Material and format
The seat shell is made of recycled, through-dyed polypropylene and the 5-star base is made of die-cast aluminium. The chair is swivelling and height-adjustable. It also has comfortable depth suspension.
