Modern Interpretation: Fluted Contrast Mug from Royal Copenhagen
With great respect for the history and tradition of Royal Copenhagen, designer Hans Christian Gjedde designed the modern Fluted Contrast mug for the company. Vibrant colours are combined with the traditional decorative ribbing that was first used in 1775 and has since become the trademark of Royal Copenhagen.
The minimalist design is fully functional and pays homage to Danish minimalism.
Royal Copenhagen - royal porcelain
Queen Juliane Marie founded Royal Copenhagen as early as 1775 as the Royal Danish Porcelain Manufactory. Her brother Charles I of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel had himself founded a porcelain factory in Fürstenberg, so that the queen was no stranger to this area. At the beginning she decided that every single piece of Royal Copenhagen porcelain would be stamped with a factory stamp: three hand-painted waves symbolizing the three straits of Denmark. To illustrate the connection to the royal court, the waves were supplemented by a royal crown.
Material and size
The Fluted Contrast mug is made of porcelain and silicone. It is 9,5 cm high with a diameter of 8,3 cm and holds 33 cl.
