Quilted landscape: Quilton Combination 19 Sofa by Hay

Quilton combines the visual understanding and the industrial precision of the designer couple Doshi Levien. The aim was to create a central platform for living, relaxing and socialising with the sofa.

Expansive dimensions and sculptural forms characterise the look of the sofa. Combination 19 impresses with a high-quality fabric cover. The quilted upholstery exudes softness, volume and a high level of comfort.

Modular

The Quilton series by Hay not only offers prefabricated combinations, but is actually based on a multifunctional system of sofa elements, described by the designers themselves as a "quilted landscape sofa system". The wide range of different modules allows users to create individual seating options with a unique look.

Technology and culture combined

The London-based design studio Doshi Levien was founded in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. The Indian-Scottish combination met while studying at the Royal College of Art. Since then, they have been creating designs together that are both technically advanced and culturally resonant.

Whether it's furniture, fashion or homewares, they each bring particular skills to the projects: Doshi is primarily concerned with visual culture, an aesthetic understanding of the world and the materiality of things, while Levien focuses more on industrial precision and technology. In 2008, the designer duo was awarded the Future Legends of Design Award. Besides the Quilton Sofa, they also designed the Uchiwa Lounge Chair for Hay.

Hay - contemporary furniture from Denmark

Founded in 2002, the Danish manufacturer Hay pursues the goal of creating furniture that meets the needs of modern life and is accessible to as large an audience as possible. In doing so, they like to reinterpret Danish furniture classics of the 50s and 60s.

Inspired by the stable structures of architecture and the dynamic turns of fashion, Hay combines the values of both industries and creates durable and timeless quality products that combine functionality and elegance.

Material and format

Quilton Combination 19 features full upholstery with padded PU foam and Fibertex base. It can be ordered in different variations:

Flamiber-Cream A5: 33% acrylic, 30% wool, 29% cotton, 7% poylester, 1% viscose.
Remix 123: 90% virgin wool, 10% nylon
Atlas 881 | Flamiber-Dark Blue: 90% Virgin Wool Worsted 10% Nylon | 33% Acrylic, 30% Wool, 29% Cotton, 7% Poylester, 1% Viscose
(Please note that this is a DUO Combination. This means that the top cover (Atlas 881) is different from the side cover (Flamiber Dark Blue), which you can also see in the picture by the colour.

The frame consists of an FSC-certified wooden construction with spring system and fleece base. The feet are made of black stained solid oak incl. felt pads and have a diameter of 80 mm.

The sofa measures W 252.5 x D 143 x H 72 cm. The seat height is 41 cm, the seat depth is 77 or 111 cm. The ottoman is attached on the right.
