Balancing act: Kizu table lamp from New Works. The acrylic lampshade seems to float on the marble base. The soft shapes give Kizu harmony and elegance. As already mentioned, the New Works Designer lamp is made of marble and acrylic. These at first glance seemingly contradictory materials are wonderfully combined in Kizu.
The precious natural stone marble has been used for thousands of years. Some of the greatest works of art in the world are made of marble. Acrylic, on the other hand, is a relatively new material. The result can be seen in the Kizu table lamp in the truest sense of the word, both in the elegant appearance and in terms of light.
Designer
The design comes from the young Norwegian design talent Lars Tornoe. After graduating from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design in 2006, many of his designs have been featured in numerous exhibitions around the globe. Lars Tornoe was even voted Designer of the Year in Norway. His studio is located in Stavanger, in the south of Norway.
Care
Although the Kizu table lamp from New Works looks extravagant, it is quite easy to care for. Marble is a natural stone that, despite its hard surface, is extremely sensitive to acid. Therefore, only use a soft dry or damp cloth for cleaning. It goes without saying that the luminaire should be switched off before cleaning.
