The story of Tom Dixon
Tom Dixon was born in Tunisia in 1959. He grew up in London as the son of an English father and a French-Latvian mother. His roots as a designer lie in the punk movement of the early eighties. After finishing his studies at the Chelsea School of Art, Tom Dixon began his design career in a rather unusual way: as an eccentric performance artist in the London nightclub Titanic, he welded together his first design furniture on stage.
In 1987, Tom Dixon opened the Dixon PID factory, which later became known as Space. In 1994 he founded the company Eurolounge for the production of his own plastic products. Tom Dixon also worked as an art director for Habitat and Artek, before he set himself the goal in 2002 with his label "Tom Dixon - The Company" of bringing the British furniture industry back to life through solid design and innovation.
