Finnish Folklore: Midsummer Dream Vase by Artek
When a girl collects seven wildflowers on Midsummer's Eve in June and puts them under her pillow, she dreams of her future husband at night - at least that's what Finnish folklore says. The Midsummer Dream Vase, inspired by this custom, certainly offers space for seven flowers above the dreaming face of a young Finnish girl.
The small figurine is part of a series of seven hand-made ceramic objects designed by COMPANY for the Artek FIN/JPN Friendship Collection.
Because 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan. Artek, as a typical Finnish company, uses this anniversary to explore the relationship between the two countries and combine them in creative collections.
