Put your feet up: MR Bauhaus Collection by Knoll International
The MR collection consists of the first steel furniture designs by the famous designer. Inspired by Bauhaus colleague Marcel Breuer, Mies van der Rohe chose the material and was inspired byiron rocking chairs of the 19th century .
in 1977, the collection received an award from the Museum of Modern Art and the Design Center Stuttgart Award the following year.
Design talent Mies van der Rohe
Mies van der Rohe, whose native name was Ludwig Mies, began his career in his parents' stonemasonry business. After an apprenticeship with the furniture designer Bruno Paul in Berlin, Mies eventually joined the architect's office of Peter Behrens before founding his own office in Berlin in 1912 and later becoming a member of the Deutscher Werkbund and director of the Bauhaus .
