First designed for use on American Navy submarines in 1944, the Navy Chair has a distinguished history. Through a 77-step process in the Emeco factories, soft recycled aluminium becomes the most durable chair imaginable. The strong classic is also available in a small version for children.

Emeco - design chairs for eternity
Emeco produces chairs in America, often by hand and mostly from recycled materials. The guiding principle is: for eternity! What began in 1944 with the production of chairs for warships can now be found in restaurants, hotels, offices and also in private homes. The Electrical Machine and Equipment Company (Emeco) was founded by Wilton Carlyle Dinges in 1944. The Second World War was the great boom for the young company. And so the Navy Chair was created first - a chair that could withstand the American Navy. What works in a demanding environment works everywhere. So it didn't take long for architects and designers to recognise the potential and use Emeco everywhere.

The chair is made of recycled aluminium. It is 39 cm wide, 50 cm deep and 79.9 cm high. The seat height is 37.5 cm.
