Elegant craftsmanship: The Pao Glass table lamp from Hay.

Pao lamp collection - appreciate natural beauty
Inspired by traditional nomad tents during his trip to Mongolia, established Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa developed a beautifully designed lighting collection called "Pao", as these tents are known in Japanese. They are intended to convey a sense of familiar home and thus radiate atmospheric warmth and security. This aesthetic is based on everyday objects that already astonish in the natural world.
Designer Naoto Fukasawa
Naoto Fukasawa was born in Yamanashi in 1956. He studied design at the Tama Art University. Initially, he designed microelectronic devices and watches. He moved to the U.S. in the late 1980s and joined IDEO, an international design and innovation consultancy. At that time, Fukasawa mainly designed computers and electronic devices for the then emerging Silicon Valley. After returning to Japan in 1996, he built up IDEO's Tokyo office until he founded his own studio in 2003.
His original approach to design has found international acclaim. For him, a simple design symbolizes the harmonious relationship between user and object. He has received many international awards, such as the title of Honorable Royal Designer for Industry from the Royal Society of Arts in 2007.
