Casual classic: PK22 armchair by Fritz Hansen
The PK 22 armchair by designer Poul Kjærholms is a classic of the 50s. Discreet and elegant at the same time, the design shows the preference of its creator for industrial materials and elements. For the shapely frame, Poul Kjærholms was inspired by his PK 25 armchair, his graduation work at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. The slim, backward-sloping seat has a casual look and invites you to lean back and relax. The iconic chair embodies Kjærholm's vision and search for the ideal form and dimension. In 1957, Kjærholm's work was rewarded with the Grand Prix of the Milan Triennale, which marked the start of his successful career. Today, the PK22 is still considered a fundamentally modern piece of seating furniture and delights lovers of well-thought-out design.Whether in one's own living space or in lounge and waiting areas - the PK22 armchair adds a stylish touch to its surroundings and can be adapted to any furnishing style thanks to the configurable seat.Remarkable chair design: Poul Kjærholm
Poul Kjærholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a special interest in various building materials, especially steel, which he regarded with the same artistic refinement as other natural materials.Poul Kjærholm was employed by Fritz Hansen for about a year, where he created a number of remarkable chair designs. In 1955 he began his collaboration with the manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, which lasted until Kjærholm's death in 1980. In 1982, Fritz Hansen took over the production and distribution of "The Kjærholm Collection", which was developed from 1951 to 1967 - designs that are logical down to the smallest detail and have an aura of exclusivity. In 2007, Fritz Hansen added two new pieces to the Kjærholm Collection that had never been in production before: the PK8 chair and the PK58 dining table.Material and format
