Description
Tripod: PK8 Chair by Fritz Hansen
For many years, the PK8 existed only as a prototype in the home of Hanne Kjærholm, Poul Kjærholm's wife. It was put into production in close collaboration with Hanne Kjærholm and presented to the public in connection with the exhibition on Poul Kjærholm, "The Furniture Architect", at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, north of Copenhagen, in 2007.The PK8 is a testament to Scandinavian craftsmanship. Its unique three-legged frame complements the seat element with its sweeping curves. Together they give the chair an individual expression and personality. Whether as a dining chair or in lounge and waiting areas - with its special look, the PK8 is a real eye-catcher!Remarkable chair design: Poul Kjærholm
Poul Kjærholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a special interest in various building materials, especially steel, which he regarded with the same artistic refinement as other natural materials.Poul Kjærholm was employed by Fritz Hansen for about a year, where he created a number of remarkable chair designs. In 1955 he began his collaboration with the manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, which lasted until Kjærholm's death in 1980. In 1982, Fritz Hansen took over the production and distribution of "The Kjærholm Collection", which was developed from 1951 to 1967 - designs that are logical down to the smallest detail and have an aura of exclusivity. In 2007, Fritz Hansen added two new pieces to the Kjærholm Collection that had never been in production before: the PK8 chair and the PK58 dining table.Material and format
