Hibernation: Resting Bird from Vitra
Even though birds don't hibernate, the two ceramic figures from Front look as if they have fallen into a pleasant, deep hibernation. The Swedish design studio has long focussed on the subject of sleep and in particular hibernation in animals.
Relaxed design
The Resting Birds radiate a feeling of deep calm that is also transferred to the owner when looking at them. The simple design is in clear contrast to the two different colours: bright yellow and dark blue.
The Resting Animals project is based on the investigation of human emotions in connection with figurative objects. Randomly selected people were asked about the most emotionally enriching object in their lives, and the answers were clear: many respondents referred to animals with which they had a shared history or specific attributes.
Material and format
The Resting Birds are made of ceramic and are available in two different colours. The surface of the figurine is glazed.
