Sleeping cats should not be awakened: Resting Cat by Vitra
Hardly anything radiates more cosiness and satisfaction than a sleeping cat. The animals are masters of relaxation. The ceramic figure of the Swedish design duo Front shows this in a special simplicity.
Just like the smooth gait of a cat, the figure is shaped without corners and edges and appears flowing.
Project Resting Animals
Numerous works by Front deal with the systematic observation of sleep, including winter sleep in animals.
The Resting Animals project investigated the close connection between human emotions and figurative objects. Randomly selected persons were asked about the most emotionally enriching object in their lives. Many of the answers related to animals with either a common history or specific attributes.
The Resting Cat is a plain ceramic sleeping cat in white or light blue. It conveys a feeling of satisfaction and cosiness.
