.Dancing shadowsThe
Silhouettes were designed in 1965 together with the entire interior of the restaurant. Placed between the dining tables, they were intended to create a cheerful expression in the room and at the same time create an atmospheric distance between the guests. Alexander Girard was often commissioned to design the interior of restaurants. For example, he designed the entire interior of the restaurants La Fonda del Sol in New York and Compound in Santa Fe - from the interior architecture and furnishings to the crockery and napkins
- but La Reserve was never realised. However, the designer's plans and drawings have been preserved and are part of the Alexander Girard collection in the Vitra Design Museum. Initially, only the bull and the mermaid were realised as figures by Vitra.
Material and formatThe
Silhouette figures are made of powder-coated steel and are supplied together with a brochure in a high-quality printed wooden box. Both figures are 12.9 cm wide and 5.8 cm deep. At 28.6 cm, the mermaid is slightly taller than the bull at 27.9 cm.Please note:
