However, the newspaper holder not only holds news, but also an important piece of Viennese lifestyle.
They were commonplace in the popular coffee houses and emphasise the pleasant aspect of a place that not only invites you to linger but also to discuss world events. Until a few years ago, a basket weaver from the Vienna area supplied them with the newspaper holders. After he closed his business at the age of 90, Thomas Poganitsch took over some of the tools and machines and continues to produce the classic pieces.
Thomas Poganitsch - limitless design
Fascinating minimalism, simple shapes and natural materials - this is how Thomas Poganitsch creates timeless designs. The designer was born in Carinthia in 1987 and discovered Vienna as his second home a few years ago after working in Italy and China. He manufactures his products by hand in his own workshop in Vienna's 2nd district.
