Eero Saarinen designed the groundbreaking Womb Chair at the request of Florence Knoll, who wanted a chair "that was like a basket full of cushions, something I could really curl up in". In accordance with this wish, Saarinen has succeeded in creating a modern and comfortable classic that can be seen in any room. It was designed in 1948 and produced exclusively for Knoll International. The Womb stool, which perfectly complements the armchair, is a perfect match.
Material and format
The stool consists of a construction of tubular steel and a structure of polyurethane foam with elastic straps. The cushions are filled with down and a polyurethane core. The frame is available both chrome-plated and black lacquered. Covers in fabric or leather are possible. The stool measures 63 cm in width, 52 cm in depth and 42cm in height.
