What is the difference between Premium leather and Premium F leather?

Leather Premium and Leather Premium F are rather smooth cowhides with a flat grain pattern and a slight tip shine. The difference is in the type of tanning. Leather Premium F is the new and sustainable leather variant from Vitra, which is tanned on the basis of olive tree leaves. Both leathers are lightly pigmented.

Why is there a low and a higher version of the Eames Lounge Chair?

Vitra offers the Eames Lounge Chair in two sizes - the classic dimensions and the new, taller dimensions. These were developed in consultation with the Eames Office to meet the requirements of today's people, who are on average about 10 cm taller worldwide. Which Eames Lounge Chair version is the classic?

Charles and Ray Eames created a classic in 1956 with the Eames Lounge Chair, which is available in many versions today. The original version had a shell made of rosewood, black leather and black sides. A visually similar, but somewhat less expensive version is the version with cherry wood.

Where is the Eames Lounge Chair produced?

For more than 60 years, Vitra has been the only legitimate manufacturer of the Eames Lounge Chair for Europe and the Middle East. Vitra only uses leather from cattle farms that are also used for food production. The tanning methods used in the manufacturing process meet all legal environmental requirements. With Premium F leather, Vitra also offers a sustainable leather that is tanned using olive tree leaves. And the veneer used for the formwork also comes from high-quality companies: with only two exceptions, Vitra only sources veneers with a sustainability certificate from European manufacturers.
