Flexible all-rounder: the extendable S 1071 dining table by Thonet

With his extendable S 1071 dining table, Hamburg designer Glen Oliver Löw has proven that classic forms are anything but boring. The combination of a simple tabletop and Thonet's typical tubular steel frame will delight anyone looking for a design object with a timeless look and functionality - both in the dining room and in the meeting room. The all-rounder simply fits wherever people come together.

The S 1071 model comes to you with two tops that can be inserted in the middle. This allows the table to be flexibly extended to different lengths, depending on how many visitors you are expecting.

Thonet - design furniture with a long tradition

Thonet from Frankenberg in northern Hesse is not only one of the oldest furniture manufacturers in the world - the company has always had a keen sense for forward-looking ideas. As early as 1859, the company's founder Michael Thonet tried to design a simple chair that could be manufactured industrially by bending beech wood. The result was the inimitable chair no. 14, also known as the Viennese coffee house chair. In the 1930s, Thonet was the main producer of the revolutionary Bauhaus tubular steel furniture designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Mart Stam or Marcel Breuer, among others. Today, Thonet is still authorised to produce these furniture classics. The company is currently working with many renowned designers from all over the world to expand its own collection.

Material and format

The S 1071 dining table by Thonet is 75 cm high. The tabletop is 90 cm wide and 200 cm long. It can be extended to 240 cm or 280 cm with the insert table tops. The 60 mm thick tabletop consists of a coated chipboard with real wood veneer or ThonetDur® and is supported by a sturdy tubular steel frame. With the help of the extensive configuration options, you can put together the table according to your wishes.

The S 1070 programme by Glen Oliver Löw also includes two other tables: the S 1070 (non-extendable) and S 1072 (extendable, folding mechanism) models. Discover the world of Thonet!
